The Blue Springs High School Band Department offers
students many opportunities in the musical arts. Class
ensembles include Symphonic Band,
Concert Band and the
Concert II Band (Freshmen).
All of these ensembles have a specific curriculum that has
been designed to emphasize musicality and musical
understanding, technique/range building, sight-reading and
performance skills, to name a few. A variety of method
books/supplemental materials are utilized in addition to
literature from all periods and styles of music. Although not
the primary focus of the bands, all the ensembles do
participate in organized music festivals and have been
fortunate to receive numerous awards and division I ratings.
All of the bands work under the philosophy to be
first and foremost educationally grounded and to strive to be
the band of the audience.
During the fall, most students participate in the
Golden
Regiment Marching Band, which is Blue Springs High School’s
largest and most visible student group. The Golden Regiment
has been recognized for their powerful sound, innovative drill
design and class act reputation.
