Concert Band

The Concert Band consists of 80-100 instrumentalists
at Blue Springs High School. Students audition for this
organization in the spring for membership the following
fall. This organization has an outstanding reputation for
excellence and has been credited by many adjudicators with
a performance level equal to many school’s 1st bands. The
Concert Band has consistently received “I” Division
ratings at the MSHSAA District Music Festival and the
MSHSAA Sight-reading contest. The Concert Band performs a
variety of music including overtures, traditional marches,
movie soundtrack and Broadway selections as well as music
fresh out on the market. Many members of this band are
also involved in solos and ensembles for District and
State Music Festivals.

Concert Band II (Freshmen Band)

| The Freshmen Band meets in two
equal sections during the school day. Average enrollment is
between 60-80 members. Several “joint rehearsals” are held
before performances to give the band an opportunity to
rehearse together. A rigorous fundamentals program is
emphasized throughout the year to prepare the band members for
their time at Blue Springs High School. Concert Band II
performs in several concerts during year and many students are
also involved in solos and ensembles for the Blue Springs
Mini-Districts, the MSHSAA District Festivals and the State
Music Festivals. All members of this band are eligible for
participation in many of the other after school ensembles
offered at Blue Springs High School. |
