Spring Band Activities

Many people are under the impression that once marching band season concludes, band is over for the year, when actually Spring is a VERY busy season for the band department. The students begin working on solos and ensembles for the district and state contests. Wind Symphony and Concert Bands also work on pieces for district and state contests. The pep band performs at numerous basketball games (check the schedule on the website.) Also, Spring is traditionally "Jazz" season. Wildcat Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab travel and compete at various jazz festivals throughout the spring. Color Guard has an extremely busy schedule as they prepare for their performance in the Percussion Explosion show. Check the website calendar frequently, as events are always being added.

Fundraisers

We are currently working on arranging fundraisers for the 2010 Marching Season. Once details are finalized they will be posted on the website calendar and flyers will be sent home. We are going to offer six fundraisers this year, due to the major trip. The fundraisers are going to be spaced throughout the year from March-September, so that students and customers aren’t overwhelmed. It’s crucial that you make note of fundraiser deadlines, due to the size of our group, we MUST stick to the deadlines. Fundraisers aren’t required, but the students that participate find them to be very beneficial when it comes to paying for all of the expenses of band.

REVTRAK Online Payments

You may make payments online at bluesprings.revtrak.net. On the first page you will click on "Band Fees & Trips" then you can choose whether you want to pay the $175 "Band participation fee", or if you’d like to pay a "Band Miscellaneous Fee." Then simply follow the step-by-step instructions. It’s that easy! You cannot check a student’s trip account via REVTRAK, you can only make payments. If you wish to check on the balance of a student account, simply email Debbie at dwhite@bssd.net. We hope to have a "Macy’s" icon for payments on the REVTRAK website very soon.

SME 2010

Everyone is interested when SME 2010 will be and we realize that families need to plan out their summer, but as of this time, no dates have been set (due to new MSHAA guidelines). Keep an eye on the website calendar, as soon as dates are set, they will be posted there first.

Fundraisers and Trip Accounts! Are you curious as to how much money your student earned with the fundraisers? Simply email Debbie White at dwhite@bssd.net and she can give you a total ASAP. Also, if you have trip payment questions, feel free to email Debbie with those also.

• It is a good idea to mail any form or payment that has a deadline. All registration forms, trip forms, parent volunteer forms, phone directory forms or any money that might be due with the above forms may be mailed to the following address:
