| The Symphonic Band consists of
the finest instrumental musicians at Blue Springs High
School. Students audition for this elite organization in the
spring for membership the following fall. All members of
this band are involved in the Golden Regiment Marching Band.
The Symphonic Band performs a variety of music including
symphonies, orchestral transcriptions, traditional marches,
movie soundtrack and Broadway selections as well as music
fresh out on the market. The Symphonic Band traditionally
hosts several college bands, a United States service band,
guest clinicians and a variety of guest soloists during the
year.
Students who are selected to perform in this group are
very dedicated and have reached a high level of musical
achievement through individual work. They are also expected to be of the highest level of
character. The highest level of commitment and performance
standard is expected of this organization. Many of the members
of this ensemble will become members of the Kansas City
All-District Band(s) and the Missouri All-State Band. Most of
the members of Symphonic Band are involved in solo/small
ensemble work during District and State Music Festival time in
the spring. In addition to making several professional
recordings, the Symphonic Band has been fortunate to receive
many awards and honors as well as performance opportunities at
local, state, regional and national festivals and clinics. |
